WordPress 2.7 Beta 1

WordPress 2.7 now has it’s first beta, the release includes many new features but the one you’ll notice first is the new design. While the new layout is not completed in this beta release, I like the way its going allowing quick easy access to admin pages without loading a few pages first.

The other big update for this release is the ability to upgrade the core automatically, while I haven’t yet tried this it is high on my list of things to do.

I’ve installed the release on a test site and so far I’m very pleased with what the guys at Automattic have done here. Below are some images I’ve taken from my test install.

WordPress 2.3.3

WordPress LogoWordPress 2.3.3 is an urgent security release. If you have registration enabled a flaw was found in the XML-RPC implementation such that a specially crafted request would allow a user to edit posts of other users on that blog.

2.3.3 also fixes some minor bugs.

I recommend you update your install ASAP and if your hosting company provides SSL encryption (or you are paying for it) I also recommend using the WordPress plugin Secure Admin to automatically access your back end over SSL.
