2011 Predictions Review

The end of the year is here so lets review how well I did predicting what would happen.

    • The EU will come down hard on Google over it’s anti trust investigation 
    • Facebook will go public (IPO) 
    • Nokia will start selling Android based phones 
    • Yahoo will shut down or sell more services  (details, and more details)
    • Steve Ballmer will step down or be fired as Microsoft’s CEO 
    • WebOS will be back 
    • RIM will be acquired 
    • There will be no 4G/LTE iPhone this year 
    • All major laptop manufactures will offer solid state drives 
    • Net neutrality will become an important main stream issue 

Predictions for 2011

Here we are in the new year and it’s time for my predictions of what will happen in the tech world this year.

Predictions 2010 Review

It’s that time of the year again, here’s the review of my predictions for the year.

  • iTunes will have subscription music
  • Apple will roll out more MobileMe features (details)
  • Twiter will be purchased
  • The iPhone will allow background apps in a limited form (i.e music apps) (details)
  • The UK Internet Piracy bill will not get passed (details)
  • Google Voice will come to the UK
  • Google Wave will flop without a purpose (details)
  • UK telecom companies will start rolling out fiber on a large scale (details)
  • Microsoft will bring the Zune to the UK
  • The Apple Table will not launch (details)

Predictions for 2010

Last year I predicted what would happen in technology for the year and did fairly well getting 6 out of 10, so this year I going again and here’s my list:

  • iTunes will have subscription music
  • Apple will roll out more MobileMe features
  • Twiter will be purchased
  • The iPhone will allow background apps in a limited form (i.e music apps)
  • The UK Internet Piracy bill will not get passed
  • Google Voice will come to the UK
  • Google Wave will flop without a purpose

  • Microsoft will bring the Zune to the UK
  • The Apple Table will not launch

That’s what I say 2010 has in store for us and we’ll see how well I do at the end of the year.

Predictions 2009 Review

The years up and it’s time again to look back and see how I did when predicting what would happen this year.

At thebeginningof the year I predicted:

  • Windows 7 will be released (details)
  • Android will overtake the iPhone in market share  (nowhere near)
  • More ISP’s will limit monthly data transfer (details)
  • Portable GPS will be (almost) replaced by Smart phones (and in-dash GPS) just as they did the MP3 player  (all msot)
  • Someone will buy Yahoo (sort of)
  • Twitter will start making money (but they do have a plan)
  • Netbooks will have built in 3G wireless Internet access (details)
  • Google will start to monetize YouTube  (details)
  • More DRM servers will be switched off (not that I heard of)
  • Hulu will launch in the UK  (next year)
